Theater

Walking into the theatre, it seemed like it would be like any other ol' trip to the movies. We passed the concession and went into theater 4. sitting down, i took hayden out of the car seat, and gave him a bottle hoping that he would soon sleep. It worked, he was down. 1 1/2 hours later, he awakens. I knew it was going to take a turn for the worse when he starts grunting.
"UNnngggg" He has the look on confusion and pure concentration. Looking straight at me with one eyebrow higher than the other.
"Unnnngg"
I look at Beki- she doesnt seem to hear his work in progress. Good.
It stops. He plays with a bag of day old bread. *CRINKLE CRINKLE* Hes decided to smack it against the car seat to add to his fun. i reposition him only to smell the stench of his diaper.
Taking a deep breath, i take Hayden on my hip and wonder off to the womens bathroom.
I knew i was in trouble when i noticed they didnt have a changing table.

great.

I walk to the stall at the end of the hall- the one reserved for handicapped people.

I open up the diaper bag and search for his blanket to use as a pad. I see nothing. I remember putting it on my purse. My purse was in the theater next to beki. Suddenly, i feel fabric, pull it out. It his little brown jacket.

Itll have to do.

I lay him with his head on the hood and the rest of it underneath his back. I take off his pants and unbutton his onsie.

Disaster.

Explosive.

Disgusting.

Stinking.

The diaper had exploded and had allowed haydens "present" to ooze up his back.

Where are the wipies?

I know i had them in there!

I eye the tissue paper.

Again, Itll have to do.

I grab handfuls of paper at a time. The line of poop seems to never end. Hes butt naked- half protected by his little jacket. I practically have to lift him upside down to clean him completely off, yet still the tissue paper doesnt seem to clean very well. i grab more handfuls. Hayden starts to whine.

I dig in my diaper bag for the backup onsie.

Where is it? I know its there

I cant find it. Did i even put one in there? No. You're so stupid.

I eye the jacket that Hayden's laying on. I look at Hayden. He looks at me. He raises one eyebrow.

It'll have to do.

I come out of the bathroom with a child that looks like a minature flasher. Naked except his diaper and jacket.

I remember his pants once im in the hall, and put those on.

It helped with the flasher effect.

I enter the theater again only to have hayden decide that he wants nothing else but to play with the lights that are three feet from the ground.

I try to watch the ending of Marley and Me.

Did Marley just die?

Wheres Marley?

The credits roll and we make our way out.

Beki says "He's such a good baby! Hes one of the best babies ive seen in a theater!"

What did she just say?

Hayden and Santa

I thought for a second there he was going to pull on his beard and reveal to the rest of the children that he was, indeed, fake..

He didnt really know what to think...

Haydens New Trick

Recently hayden has developed a liking of sticking his tongue out each time he sees a camera... or each time he smiles. Its cute and funny until i dress him up in a cute outfit and set out to take a cute picture of a smiling baby for a christmas present. :P
Before the smile...and now the tongue......Before the smile...and now the tongue...

He is still pretty darn cute though... you can actually see it in his eyes that hes thinking "take a picture of this!!!!"

How can you not love this face?!

This has been a crazy week. Haydens sick. I had to take him to the hospital tuesday night because he had an almost 102 *F fever and just layed there looking at me not moving or anything. I waited three hours in the waiting room only to be told that they couldnt give him anything without him having any other symptoms. i went home with instructions to give tylenol and motrin every two hours to keep the fever down. The next day i was supposed to drive to lakeway to assist in the other office by myself bc everyone else either quit or had to go to san antonio for classes. I was so stressed. I woke up wednsday and hayden still had a fever. Jerry worked half day so i could drive to lakeway and do the deposit while he took care of hayden.

Thursday i was assisting by myself with a full schedule on hygeine. All day i was thinking of hayden and how he was doing. One time, wheni was consoling a little girl, my hand started to literally shake really bad. I was looking at it trying to make myself stop but it felt like i had no control. (mom said it was probably from stress) I got home with hayden, checked his temp and yes, he still had a fever, but it was only 99.6ish

Today i was, again, by myself at work but on the op side doing extractions and so forth. Thankfully half the op appointments didnt show up and martha was able to do them while i worked on hygeine. When i went to pick up hayden, his head felt normal and he had no fever. :) yay.

Im hoping this weekend is nice and calllmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

Blue mondays

I wish i knew how to be a supportive friend. One of those friends who, if they see you crying or upset, automatically just grab you and give you the biggest hug possible. I always feel so awkward.

i wish i could express myself and my feelings without feeling like im making an ass of my self or sounding whiney.

I wish i wasnt such a pushover who just shrugs and laughs instead of standing up for myself.

I wish i could make others want to listen to the stories i tell instead of seeing them zone out and think about other things.

I got the job.

I finally got hired at the pediatric dental office. Its been fun so far. Im working front office which is way calmer than actually assisting. Everyones really nice so far. I love the hours.

the day they asked if i wanted to work full time i was so nervous aand worried about finding a good babysitter to watch hayden. The lady i was currently using was only available tue-thursday but i needed to go to work mon-friday. When i went to go pick up hayden that afternoon she told me that she had decided to leave her mon/friday job and was now available to watch hayden all week. PERFECT. It was great how everything just fell into place. Hayden loves her! Each time i drop him off she picks him up and asks "how was your morning, gordito?!" and hayden just gives her a big smile and laughs. Its really cute. Im so glad i found someone that i know is doing a good job with him.

Haydens Leaking

Hayden drools. He mainly does it when its been a while since he ate. Its as if he starts thinking about a warm bottle full of delicious milk and then starts the drool. Its kind of like homer simpsons "Mmmmm donuts... gggllluuughh*drool*"

His thrush is spreading to his throat. The result is him sounding like one of the chipmunk brothers when he crys or laughs. The doctor thinks that his body might be becoming used to the medicine so its not working like t should but there really isnt anything else they can give him until hes four months. Until then, i bought a timer so i wont forget/be late giving him the medicine. Today he seems to sound a lot better.

I love working at the ped. dental office. Its so much fun interacting with the children and you see such cool stuff. Yesterday a girl who had cleft lip palate came in. The hygeinist stopped and showed me how the surgeons had done the reconstructive surgery. It was really interesting. The same day i helped take an xray on a coworker and found out she has three extra teeth- two in her chin area and one tucked by her ear. Again, interesting. Then before we left, the last patient came and she had a microdont (idk if thats spelled right) tooth. Basically its like a midget perminant tooth. All of her teeth were so big except for one molar that looked soo tiny. It was cool. The hygeinist told methat she went to the main dentist andsaid that it would be a good idea to hire me to be a floater between op side and hygeine side. Im excited. She said that he thought it sounded like a good idea so hopefully it will work out.

Hayden Talking

More Pics

Haydens getting three shots today- im sure that ill be crying right along with him- i havent heard him cry from pain before. *tear* Im supposed to give him baby tylenol before and after.

Works going good. I really enjoy workig with the children. Theyre so much easier to handle. If they start wiggling you canjust tell them straight up to settle down and let you look in their mouth where as ifyou were working on an adult you have to be so much more polite. It sounds bad but its true. My favorite patient so far was a little girl who i took xrays on. when she got to the exam table, she started crying and wanted us to get her mom (we try to take just the kids back and leave their parents in the waiting room). When she saw that i was watching them try to console her, she pointed to me and said crying "I want ms Amber to hold my hand!". It was really cute.

Random Notes

  • Haydens getting too big.

  • Im starting work at the pediatric dental office monday. Theres a younger girl that is going to watch hayden while i work. Shes young but i think shell do okay. She seems really responsible. My friend, Martha, has let her watch Miranda (Martha's youngest daughter) since miranda was 4 months old. Marthas's really picky about letting people watch her kids so i think she'll be alright. I told her that we'll try it out for a couple of days and if she doesnt feel like she can handle watching him four days a week then I can look for another person to watch him. Im nervous but i hav efaith in her. Theres really no good daycares here in town that have openings for a baby hayden's age.

  • Where have all the days gone? It feels like time is passing by so fast!

  • Im getting the other half of my mouth/cavities filled on thursday. Fun. Have you ever had dreams where your teeth start falling off in your hands? It feels nice that those dreams are indeed just dreams and i wont be spitting out pieces of tooth in my hand. Sure, it stinks having a needle jammed into your gums but its great knowing that you dont have cavities rotting away your teeth. :P

  • Did i mention that haydens wearing primarily 6-9 month onsies now?- Gema, forget about looking for 3-6months clothings at garage sales. He'll be into the six to nine pretty soon

  • Schools going great. Im really good at taking impressions however im still accidently sucking the tongue when im suctioning spit. It doesnt really bother the patients because it doesnt hurt but i feel horrible when i see the tongue suddenly being sucked on like a vacuume trying to suck up a curtain.

  • I will finish this post with a couple of cute pics of hayden
